The Bristol Parks and Recreation Commission has an annual budget of more than $225,000, none of which is drawn from tax revenue. Income is raised through entrance fees at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park and Pemaquid Beach Park. The commission also receives funds for weddings, facility rentals, location film fees and donations. They are also developing additional revenue streams through grants. Commissioners have also pledged $30,000 per year in funding aimed at maintenance and preservation of the light station. They have made this pledge with confidence: over the past five years, the Parks Commission has spent well in excess of that amount on improvements to facilities at its properties.
